November 7, 2019 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm
WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT AND CAREER READINESS TO BE EXPLORED BY BERKELEY COUNTY SCHOOLS AND MARTINSBURG BERKELEY COUNTY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
Berkeley County Schools in partnership with the Martinsburg-Berkeley County Chamber of Commerce, will host a county-wide career exploration discussion, and review of local workforce development and career readiness activities that may be available for Berkeley County Schools’ students. This interactive discussion is open to local business and industry stakeholders and partners in education and will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2019, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the Hedgesville High School library.
“Our community is extremely fortunate to have the wealth of business and industry resources available for our students to explore. Partnerships forged between our students and business community will provide our students with career exploration, options and opportunities that could open doors to fulfilling careers and personal investments back into the community, said Berkeley County Schools Superintendent Dr. Patrick Murphy
As part of the collaborative partnership, Berkeley County students can benefit from increased access to local internships, externships, job fairs, job shadowing, workplace tours, integrated career pathways, career exploration and a speaker series.
“Our business community has always supported education and I know that our industry leaders will support conversation and action to provide Berkeley County students with options for career and workforce exploration,” said Tina Combs, CEO of the Martinsburg Berkeley County Chamber of Commerce.
Frank Vitale, president and CEO of Forge Business Solutions, LLC, a strategic planning firm based in Morgantown, W.Va. will facilitate the discussion and provide feedback to Berkeley County Schools following the November 7th event. Vitale said, “I believe that by bringing industry and education together, we can better engage students and encourage them to think about and explore career options as early as possible in their educational journey”.
