Program Objectives The Objective of Leadership Berkeley is to develop and enhance community leadership by offering participants:
Program Design Leadership Berkeley is designed to provide a series of educational and participatory experiences as well as an opportunity for dialogue and the development of new personal relationships among participants. An interesting variety of topics will be covered and full participation of each individual is required. Tuition Tuition is $775 (for members of the Chamber of Commerce of Martinsburg and Berkeley County) and $975 (for non-members) to participate in Leadership Berkeley. The participant's employer or sponsor should provide the tuition. Payment of the fee shall be made after a participant is selected and not at the time of application. Fees are expected to be paid prior to a participant beginning the first session. Tuition includes all course materials, orientation dinner, trip to Antietam Battlefield, trip to Charleston, monthly lunch, and graduation dinner expenses. Nomination/Selection Process A representative group of up to 25 participants will be selected from business, the professions, religion, government, education, civic groups, the arts, organized labor, minority organizations and community groups. Leadership Berkeley seeks potential leaders as well as individuals who already attained high levels of leadership in their respective spheres of influence, have demonstrated a commitment to the community and are likely to assume greater responsibility. Nominations are sought and encouraged from all segments of our community. Individuals nominate themselves or those they feel best exemplify the Leadership Berkeley philosophy and goals. Applicants are encouraged to become Chamber members, however their membership is NOT required to be nominated for Leadership Berkeley. Participants are chosen from written applications by a Selection Committee. Each candidate is rated by the members of the Selection Committee against a clear-cut set of criteria. Those candidates not selected should reapply the following year. You are encouraged to review this information and submit nominations for participation in this program or encourage a colleague to apply. Nominations may be submitted to the Chamber online (see below), by mailing the nomination form, or by calling the Chamber at 267-4841. The nomination deadline is May 31. Applications will be mailed to nominees and must be returned to the Chamber no later than the close of business on June 30. It is necessary for nominees to have the support of the organization or corporation that they represent. Program While analyzing potential growth, concerns and opportunities, each session promises to provide practical insight and useful information for each participant. Tours, discussions and group activities will enhance this year's program, making it a rewarding experience for all.
Submit nominations to Tina Combs at tina@berkeleycounty.org All persons nominated will be sent an application form. |
