The City of Martinsburg is accepting applications for a Full Time Police Dispatcher II. Shifts will vary/rotate as needed. High school diploma or GED equivalent with specialized course work in general office practices and two (2) years of increasingly responsible related experience, or any equivalent combination of related education and experience.
The successful applicant will monitor telephones and radio in the dispatch center, answer all incoming calls and ascertain the nature of the call, dispatch police vehicles for emergency responses, maintain a log on radio and telephone communications, input data into the computer system, and other related duties as required. The successful applicant must be able to deal with the public and staff of the Police Department in a calm, rational and reasonable manner in often stressful situations. Must have teletype certification or be able to obtain teletype certification timely.
